Hi Dave, I was doing a google for info on Converto trailers for WWII Jeeps and came across your site...very nice to find some great pictures and info on an interesting part of Jeep and American history.
I found my Converto trailer sitting abandoned on a ranch in Avila Beach CA that had been converted by way of some welding into a trailer with higher sides and a godawful heavy tailgate. After cleaning it up a bit and repainting, I have it on the road behind my Jeep TJ as a not quite daily workhorse-hauling dumploads, mulch etc. and in the back woods hauling firewood/camping supplies.
It's a great little trailer and I am happy to see the info you have (and others) on these trailers. Unfortunately mine isn't as original as I thought it was, the wheels are aftermarket and don't quite match each other but they look similar to original equipment and of course the tailgate is long gone. No wiring/lights or evidence of them being there previously...jack stand is missing as well.
For your info/posting on your web site(if you like), I'm attaching some pictures of the trailer as it was and some serial number pictures too.
